In December 2008, recorded phone conversations disclosed Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich endeavoring to "sell" an appointment to the Senate seat that Barack Obama resigned following currently being elected president. From the telephone discussion, Blagojevich claimed in reference to his power to appoint a new senator, "I have acquired this factor
